Travel: Weather, Food & Entertainment Guide
Weather

Q: What are the seasonal changes in the weather?

A:Liberia has two main seasonal changes – rainy and dry. The rainy season occurs between May through September. Torrential and almost ceaseless downpour is prevalent during this period. The dry season is October through April. With the dry season, it is not uncommon to see chapped lips and scaly skin. With the Atlantic Ocean bordering Liberia, a favorite pastime for Liberians and visitors alike is spending time with family and friends at the beach. The dry season is a perfect time for this. Most beaches are usually overcrowded on Saturdays and Sundays.

Food

Q: What are the staple foods of Liberia?

A: Rice is a must-have for every Liberian on a daily basis. It can be eaten with almost any kind of sauce. Cassava (otherwise known as yucca) is another staple for Liberians.

Entertainment/Nightlife

Q: What are the "hottest" after-hours spots?

A: Despite the 14-year civil war, having a good time with friends is a way of life for most Liberians. To accommodate this need, many “hot” spots have debut in and around Monrovia. Some of the favorite spots are Zanzibar, Musu’s Spot, Pepper Bush and Miatta’s Spot.
